Life Transitions Support

When life changes everything, your home doesn’t have to add to the chaos.

Major life transitions are overwhelming for everyone. For ADHD brains, they can be completely paralysing.

Calm Spaces provides practical, compassionate support during life’s most challenging transitions - so you can focus on what matters most.

Life Transitions We Support

Moving House

Moving is consistently rated as one of life’s most stressful events. We help with:

Before the Move:

  • Decluttering and sorting (keep, donate, bin)
  • Packing support (labelling, organising by room)
  • Coordinating what goes where
  • Reducing overwhelm of the entire process

After the Move:

  • Unpacking and organising
  • Setting up systems in your new home
  • Deep clean of old property (bond clean)
  • Creating functional spaces from day one

Why it helps: Moving paralyses ADHD brains. Too many decisions, too much overwhelm. Having someone to break it into manageable steps changes everything.

New Baby

Having a baby turns your world upside down. We provide:

Before Baby Arrives:

  • Organising nursery and baby items
  • Meal prep and freezer stocking
  • Deep clean of home
  • Setting up simple systems for the chaos ahead

After Baby Arrives:

  • Light housekeeping so you can rest
  • Laundry support (because it never ends)
  • Kitchen clean-up and meal prep help
  • Maintaining order during the newborn fog

Why it helps: You need to focus on your baby and recovering. Not on whether the dishes are done or the floor is clean.

Separation or Divorce

Ending a relationship is emotionally exhausting. Practical support helps:

During Transition:

  • Sorting shared belongings
  • Organising your new space
  • Downsizing or redistributing items
  • Creating a fresh start in a new home

After Separation:

  • Establishing new routines
  • Maintaining your space when you’re overwhelmed
  • Building systems that work for one person (or single parenting)
  • Non-judgemental support during a hard time

Why it helps: You’re dealing with grief, logistics, possibly co-parenting, legal matters, financial stress. Having someone handle the home stuff removes one burden.

Illness or Recovery

When you’re unwell - physically or mentally - home maintenance falls apart:

During Illness:

  • Maintaining basic cleanliness and order
  • Preventing overwhelm from building up
  • Managing laundry, dishes, surfaces
  • Creating a calm, restful environment

Recovery Period:

  • Gradually rebuilding routines
  • Catching up on what was neglected
  • Reset clean to start fresh
  • Flexible support as energy fluctuates

Why it helps: Illness creates shame cycles (“I should be able to manage this”). We break that cycle with zero-judgement support.

Returning From Time Away

Been away for work, family care, hospitalisation, or holidays?

Post-Absence Reset:

  • Full home clean and refresh
  • Restocking basics
  • Laundry and washing catch-up
  • Getting systems back on track

Why it helps: Coming home to a disaster zone creates instant overwhelm. Coming home to a clean, organised space? That’s a relief.

Grief and Loss

When you’re grieving, basic tasks feel impossible:

Bereavement Support:

  • Maintaining your space with minimal decisions required
  • Practical help while you process grief
  • Sorting belongings of loved ones (if needed, when ready)
  • Compassionate, gentle support

Why it helps: Grief is exhausting. We handle the practical stuff so you can focus on healing.

Major Life Changes

Other transitions we support:

  • Starting a new job (especially shift work)
  • Relationship beginning (combining households)
  • Kids leaving home (empty nest reset)
  • Retirement (time to declutter and downsize)
  • Disability or injury (adapting your space)
